Achievement and Excellence
The Safety Box courses have been developed in conjunction with a wide range of partners, teachers, youth workers and children with the aim of delivering high quality learning vehicles for youth development.
We interviewed and conducted research with 250 young people in London to find out what they wanted included in their curriculum and how we could help them achieve excellence in their life and fulfil their dreams. We continually evaluate all of our work with young people and to this date (2011) have collected 5000 feedback forms from the young people we have worked with across the South East of England. This helps us to modify change and constantly deliver excellent training for our pupils.

Not all talented learners, particularly youth that have literacy problems, are obvious achievers. Many actually underachieve - their potential masked by factors such as negative peer influence, frustration, low self-esteem, lack of challenge, or low teacher/parent expectations.
In some instances their problems can obscure their talent. Also, it is sometimes difficult to recognise potential talent in a young person without detailed knowledge of their personal issues and the standards expected in their particular field.
With the Safety Box we recognise the importance of working with the minds of young people. We use methods that help to change the mindset which then improves productivity.

We use these ideas in all of our courses and reinforce them every session:
• Make fun of what the pupils do.
• Replace their negative self-talk with positive one’s
• Have them watch their self-talk, through recordings
• Help them to use negative self-talk as trigger for positive one
• Teach how they can be persistent in achieving a goal
