Kobujitsu simply means - Ancient
Martial Ways which implies that the emphasis is on
practical applications of the principles of combative
movement.
Dojo simply means - "Way place." It
is at the place where we strive to learn the way or
begin / continue our journey on the way (do) for the
purpose of physical, mental and spiritual attainment.
The school is located in Uxbridge, Middlesex at Brunel
University main campus. This is a school that places
in high regard the importance of training to excellence
and upholding the precepts of Budo (Martial Ways).
Our focus is based on the basics of our art, as the
basics are the roots and the foundation of our structure.
We are firm believers in commitment, perseverance,
and humility, which are all attributes of a true martial
artist. We have a good ratio of teachers to students
and encourage our students to always ask questions,
fostering an enquiring mind. All instructors are fully
qualified to teach all levels including children and
each hold a current police CRB check and FAW. We are
open to all, regardless of age, ability or gender.
The dojo has been operating for 13 years and is continually
under supervision from senior masters within our worldwide federation.
The main arts that are taught are Okinawa Goju-Ryu and Yamanaka-Ha Shindo Ryu Ju- Jitsu
We believe in being a well rounded martial artist therefore
other systems such as Kobudo are also taught independently
(all the arts we practice have a pure traceable lineage).
We have a very friendly, family and professional orientated environment with regular trips abroad together and frequent social events. We Welcome all! Why not join today!
The Brunel Kobujitsu Dojo are proud members of the
YKKF and the English Karate Federation (NGB). YKKF stands for Yudansha Kobujitsu Karate-Doh
Federation (black belt ancient martial arts empty
handed ways).
• Yudansha means: Ranks above black Belt,
implying that this is an organization of graduate
students. • Kobujitsu means: Ancient Martial
Ways implying that the emphasis is on practical applications
of
the principles of combative movement.
• Karate-Do
means: The use of the word Do implies that we practice
the arts for spiritual attainment.
The YKKF is a fraternal organization of many arts
and styles recognizing the intrinsic worth and value
of every system. Members of the YKKF understand that
martial arts are founded upon universal principles
of movement, morality and etiquette. It is in this
spirit that all schools of YKKF work in harmony with
each other for their mutual advancement and the discovery
of the meaning and the ultimate purpose of Budo.
Our lineage comes through the founder of our organisation
and teacher of our own Sensei, Yamanaka
Sensei. Yamanaka Sensei began his training in the early 1960s under the instruction of Sigung Chong Oi Mun.
Yamanaka Sensei has spent his life dedicated to studying the martial arts and it was through this pursuit that
he met and studied Goju Ryu under Ei’ichi Miyazato.
His teacher from Okinawa, Ei'ichi Miyazato Sensei (1922-1999)
headed the Jundokan and held the Goju rank of Judan
(10°). He was a direct and senior student of
Chojun Miyagi, who was the founder (Ryuso) of Okinawa
Goju Ryu. Yamanaka Sensei holds some of the highest
ranks in the world and is an internationally respected
master with pure lineage in Goju-Ryu and pure
lineage from the legendary Hung Gar Kun Master Wong
Fei Hung.
The YKKF International President is Giovanni
Di Meglio Shihan, 7th Dan Kyoshi Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate-Do & 6th
Dan Shindo-Ryu Jujutsu, Shihan Ron Yamanaka's direct
student. He has been in the world of martial arts
for over 35 years teaching & learning in numerous
