Andy
began training when he started his degree in Economics
and Management at Brunel University in 1999. After
looking at all of the martial arts classes taught
at Brunel, he decided to join the Brunel Kobu-Jitsu
Karate Dojo as a student of Sensei Nathaniel Peat.
He soon fell in love with the martial arts, enjoying
all aspects of their study and from Spring 2000 supplemented
his karate training with the study of Small Circle
Jujitsu as a direct student of Professor Leon Jay.
He has travelled to many different countries for
seminars both independently and with the YKKF in
order to train with like minded individuals and gain
instruction from outstanding masters. At the end
of 2004, Andy travelled to the
YKKF Headquarters in Canada to train as a direct
student of Saiko Shihan Yamanaka and Shihan Darren
Smith where he furthered his study of Goju Ryu Karate
and learnt the Yamanaka-Ha Shindo Ryu Jujitsu System.
He greatly values the traditions of true martial
arts and sees them as a vehicle for personal growth
and improvement. Outside of the martial arts Andy
holds a BSc in Economics and Management and an MSc
in Organisational Psychology and focuses on improving
performance in organisations through good people
management.
