“The pupils responded very well to their learning with enthusiasm and clear enjoyment. Most noticeable improvement was a girl in year 7 who attended all eight sessions; she is now confidently contributing in class and displays much more confidence in her physical ability.”

Welcome to The Safety Box

EYB WinnerOur tailor made programs are specifically designed to fit into your school and can be used as a vital part of Citizenship / PSHE curriculum. Working together in partnership our aim is to raise levels of achievement, attainment and respect. Through our enrichment lessons we aim to fulfill the criteria set out in the ECM initiative by promoting healthy living, giving pupils the necessary tools to stay safe and equip them ideas in which they can make a positive contribution to society.

The Safety Box schools program is a system to teach children and young adults how to manage conflict, raise levels of confidence and self esteem.

Education is the single most important goal for any child or young adult. To focus on studying, students need to be able to feel safe in their schools and neighbourhood.

Unfortunately this is often not the case.

Our program has been developed because there is a growing need to demonstrate to young adults that there are ways to avoid bullying, harassment or more serious, violent situations. Where avoiding threat is not possible, we show how to manage and control dangerous situations.

We teach simple, effective tactics to reduce and avoid threat. These include techniques from psychology, verbal resolution, aggression management and assertiveness training.

Above all we build and reinforce a sense of confidence in students. Having confidence as a result of training and knowledge is simply the most effective way for children and young adults to stay safe.

Nathaniel Peat, the founder of the Safety Box, is a specialist in personal protection with more than 16 years experience in teaching personal safety and conflict management. Growing up in London he saw firsthand the challenges and dangers that young people face in day to day life. This allows him to speak with conviction and authority when addressing students who have been faced with violence.

The Safety Box working together with schools and youth groups aim to help protect children and young people from harm and aid them in achieving what they want in life.

Working with schools

The school courses

Safety Box personal protection courses run throughout spring, summer and autumn terms. Summer holiday and extra curricular training is also possible.

Each module runs for one hour and is based on National Curriculum standards for personal, social and health education (PSHE).

The course has been run throughout the UK at schools, youth groups and universities with testimonials available elsewhere on this site.

All courses are tailored to the specific needs of each school. Individual students will also have different requirements and our staff have the knowledge and experience to be able to adapt to personal needs.

Courses include one-on-one training, group work, short lectures and video aids.

All Safety Box trainers have been checked and cleared to work with children by the criminal records bureau (CRB). They are all certified first aid workers (FAW) and experienced in personal protection.

In addition, trainers have been selected from a wide variety of complementary backgrounds including education, local authority, law, security and police.

Police representatives help to run of some of the courses, providing additional background and authority that is easily recognised by students.
