The Safety Box is currently only recruiting Training consultants

The main role of a safety box training consultant is to work with young people within schools, colleges, youth groups, communities, victims of crime and youth offending centres.  You would be involved in some or all of the following duties:

  • carrying out assessments of young people within schools / youth groups and identifying their needs

  • delivering a variety of workshops and seminars some of which include:

    • Conflict resolution and management

    • Anti bullying strategies

    • Safety Awareness

    • Anti knife and Gun defence

    • Anger management

    • Confidence building

    • Raising Self Esteem

    • Rape and Sexual Assault Defence

  • devising action plans to support young people and address the identified needs

  • working in partnership with schools to deliver our programmes within the Autumn, Winter and Summer terms

  • delivering taster assemblies and taking part at exhibitions and events

  • challenging young peoples’ attitudes and helping them understand the effect their behaviour has on others.

  • researching a young person’s background and talking with them and their school

  • encouraging young people to take part in constructive activities

  • liaising with colleagues in the safety box team and with partner organisations

  • writing up reports of seminars, collating statistical information and maintaining confidential records appropriately

  • assisting lead trainers in delivering physical based workshops

  • creating a new client base through promoting the safety box

Skills & Interests

The Safety Box needs the following skills set

  • some knowledge of the legal system,

  • excellent communication skills and the ability to build good relationships with young people

  • confidence and assertiveness in order to deal with challenging behaviour,

  • the ability to remain calm under pressure

  • good report writing skills

  • to be non-judgmental and fair in their treatment of and attitude towards young people.

  • a keen interest in young people’s development

  • motivated to achieve results

  • the ability to work collectively and independently

  • a background in defence or martial arts would be an advantage but not essential

  • demonstrate good leadership skills

  • have a history of working with young people

  • previous experience of working with children and young people and some knowledge of the youth justice system would be an advantage.

Academic Requirements

We accept a range of qualifications and experience for our training positions, such as a degree, A’Levels, a vocational qualification or diploma in social work, conflict management, counceling, psychology, sport science, law. A degree or diploma in youth and community studies, NLP practicioners or youth workers, or another relevant professional qualification. A teaching qualification is also acceptable.
