| The Safety Box - Autumn Term Course (Duration 6 - 7 Weeks) |
The courses are run on a Autumn, Spring and Summer Term basis. Each module has a heavy PSHE curriculum base and runs for 1 hour. The courses outlined below are a general guide to some of the modules taught, they vary based on age and pupil needs.

To show the long term consequences of anti-social behaviour and how it affects their future. Designed to raise levels of confidence, increase self worth and increase self esteem.

Week 6 Modules To show the consequences of making the choice to react as opposed to resolve, to show the chemical changes that take place in the body which causes violent episodes. Give them the tools to stay safe the correct way, without the need to carry a weapon. Show non-violent defence (break away) strategies against clothing grabs.

To show how to still use conflict resolution even when the situation becomes violent. Explain the dangers of the date rape drug and things to be aware of when going out. Simulate drills where non violent defence strategies are used.

Week 3 – 5 Modules (To develop strategies on ways to resolve group and individual conflict. To use various confidence building tools geared toward raising levels of achievement. To be aware of how others see them, manage praise and criticism, and success and failure in a positive way and learn from the experience. To give pupils effective tools necessary to develop non-reactive responses. To help them gain a sense of their own identity and present themselves confidently in a range of situations without the need to be loud and abusive.

| The Safety Box - 1 hour conflict resolution and aggression management workshop |
This workshop is designed to teach conflict resolution, anger management and self control. The workshop is useful for pupils with continual behaviour problems.

| The Safety Box - 15 min or 30 min Taster Assembly. |
The theme of this assembly is conflict resolution, with a specific focus on aggression, anger, reactive responses and safety on the streets. It uses various analogies to demonstrate that you can resolve conflict without having to argue or fight. It also shows what to do if an incident becomes violent, demonstration against strangle holds a defence against a knife are also shown. The assembly aims:
• To show that no conflict, however large or small, is made better by unthinking action
• To show that reacting is not the best solution
• To encourage students to think about conflict from a personal point of view
• The assembly shows how a reaction can lead to conflict
• To allow students to consider how they could deal with situations without losing their temper |
