Support For Parents with youth at risk of

(Child Sexual Exploitation, Child Abuse & Child Criminal Exploitation Safeguarding)

At a time where more and more young people are being abused at home by seperated parents and carers, groomed either into child criminal exploitation or sexual exploitation it is important for parents or guardians to identify the signs and the steps of how to safeguard them. The young people in your care may have serious mental health conditions which may lead to negative behaviour tendencies, you may find something in their rooms or you may know that they are involved with gangs and criminal exploitation, or they may show depression or anxiety because of an abuse situation this is where we can assist.

It is important that parents and guardians get the guidance as the young people may become the victims of violence or maybe pressured into doing things that lead to violence, for example street robberies, theft, trafficking drugs or holding weapons. There may also be physical, sexual and/ or psycho-emotional abuse coupled with bullying and threats.

This is where the family may require our help.

The Safety Box runs a 4 week program (1 hour a week) for parents and guardians on advice about what to do if a child is being groomed to join, or if a child has already joined a gang and also ways they can safeguard their children against Child Criminal Exploitation or Child Sexual Exploitation.

The program covers some of the following areas:

  • Identifying the signs

  • The Dangers of Social Media & YouTube Music

  • Gaming / Social Chat Forums

  • Understanding the terminology

  • Strategies to get out

  • How to support as a parent / guardian

  • Monitoring

  • Understanding how to report and when to in order to safeguard.
